Scotland 2030: Our Food Future

The Scottish Government intends to introduce a Good Food Nation Bill in this session of the Scottish Parliament and will bring Scotland’s relationship with food and drink into focus. This event aims to debate the long-term opportunities and challenges facing Scotland in relation to food, considering the context of the forthcoming Good Food Nation Bill.

This event will include a series of short presentations and a panel discussion, which will look to bring in the audience throughout, making the event as participative as possible. The panel is composed of Wendy Russell, Rowett Institute; Pete Ritchie, Nourish Scotland; and Cate Devine, the food writer.

Wendy Russell will bring to the table her research on plant proteins and how they can contribute more in the future to the human diet in terms of nutritional value, while Pete Ritchie will talk about Nourish Scotland's 2030 Food Atlas project – their vision of a sustainable food system in 2030.

The event takes place in the in the Members Room at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 5 September, from 6 pm to 7.30pm (with half an hour of informal discussion/networking afterwards). It is open to the public and will be chaired by Claudia Beamish MSP, the director of the Futures Forum.

The seminar is part of the Futures Forum’s Scotland 2030 Programme, a session-long exploration of Scotland’s culture and society in 2030. For more information about the programme, click here.
