Katy is an evolutionary ecologist and RBGE’s Quarantine and Plant Health Officer. Her research is focused on the evolutionary changes that may drive or be driven by new host-microbe associations, and on appropriate management responses. Her work bridges Science and Horticulture, investigating best practice for biosecurity for a conservation organisation, and communicating her work to practitioners and the public.
Co-ordinates BioSS research in Statistical Methodology Research Theme, In this Theme, we develop and advance statistical methods for data collection and analysis to help answer challenging and wide-ranging scientific questions related to agriculture and the rural economy, the environment, food and health.
I have worked as an environmental statistician at the Edinburgh office of BioSS since 2004.
