Biography

Daniel is an applied mathematician who studies agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and explores mitigation measures using modelling. He aims to demonstrate both the environmental and economic benefit of adopting mitigation measures in agriculture to enable uptake by farmers and stakeholders. Daniel uses experimental results to parameterise and validate models which ensures model predictions are realistic. He believes models should not only address scientific questions, but also serve as tools to support the decision making of farmers and policy makers. He has an expertise in root-soil interactions and is particularly interested in how the below ground traits of crops can be targeted to address the environmental challenges facing agriculture.
