Biography
Christopher Schulz is an interdisciplinary researcher with interests in environment and development, environmental values, and water governance.
At St Andrews, his primary focus is on critical economic dimensions of sustainability, in particular:
- Economic instruments for environmental management and sustainability transitions
- Methodological options for valuing the environment
- Conceptual and practical alternatives to mainstream economic approaches.
He is also currently Lead Researcher for the Dutch Government’s Valuing Water Initiative.
Most of his research has been in Latin America, but he also has fieldwork experience in South Asia and Africa. Besides English, he is fluent in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and German.
