Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy is a versatile analytical technique that can characterise a wide variety of different sample types e.g. from drugs and plastics to soil and minerals. The IR spectrum produced is a chemical “fingerprint” or profile of a sample and allows us to “see” what it is made up of.
Policies implemented in order to control Foot and Mouth Disease, such as large-scale culling of healthy animals, were often controversial. Other infections have the potential to cause similar problems.
Science and the Parliament aims to foster close relations between policymakers and key stakeholders. This event is organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry and is a firm fixture in the Scottish parliamentary calendar.

As the SEFARI Knowledge Exchange Sectorial Lead for Soils and Crops, Ken's particularly interested in how plant roots play a critical role in mechanically stabilising soil, so he never thought he’d be enlisting the help of a Pufferfish to communicate research!
SNA is a tool to illusate how different items are connected together. Often shown as nodes describing people and edges how the nodes link together. At its very core social network analysis uses data to help make connections, help people collaborate and help more people benefit from these collaborations.
The target audience for this event are the public, private and third sectors. Organisers of events are particularly welcome as network analysis of their participants can help build relationships.
