Biography
Anna is a molecular plant pathologist leading research into characterisation of the interaction of barley with Rhynchosporium commune and resistance to rhynchosporium in barley. Sequencing of the R. commune genome and transcriptome has paved the way for identification and characterisation of pathogenicity factors, including effectors and cell wall proteins. On the barley side the research of my group involves identification of novel sources of resistance to R. commune using diverse barley germplasm, identification of the resistance genes, and development of diagnostic markers that can be exploited by breeders for the sustainable deployment of complimentary resistances in new cultivars.
