Andrew has thirty years’ experience of rural development research, mainly in a Scottish context, but with more than 10 years part-time secondment to a Nordic research centre (Nordregio, Stockholm). He has a particular interest in sparsely populated and remote areas, their demographic trends, economy, and policy. He is a member of the board of the research centre for Fragile Territories at the Politechnico di Milano, and a member of the Scottish Government’s Expert Advisory Group on Migration and Population.
